What it feels like in here

So the building holds no surprises on the day

Sound

The pool hall echoes. Splashing, whistles, kids in the lesson pool and announcements over the speakers.

Smell

There can be a slight chlorine smell through the pool areas. It is strongest right at the water’s edge.

Air and temperature

The pool hall is warm and humid. The Wellness Centre and Gym on Level 1 is cooler and drier.

Floors

Tiled floors around the pool are often wet. They are textured to reduce slipping, but feel different underfoot and under wheels.

Light

Large windows and a lot of natural light, with reflections moving on the water and the ceiling.

Other people

The pools are shared. There will be other people around who are not part of your session. General public are not allowed in Determined2’s lane of the 50 metre pool during sessions.

Things that help

    • Bring headphones or ear plugs if noise is difficult.
    • Ask us for a quieter session time. Some parts of the day are much calmer than others.
    • Look through our online tour first, so the building is already familiar.
    • Tell us what you need. You do not have to explain why.
    • You can leave a space at any time. Nobody will ask you to stay.
