Exercise Physiology

Determined2 is a multi-award winning service provider built on the foundations of lived experience. Our person centred, co-designed approach is intended to empower participants’ choice and control to help them improve their physical, mental, and social health through physical activity.

What is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP)?

AEPs are university qualified allied health professionals equipped with the knowledge and skills to design, deliver and evaluate safe and effective exercise programs for people with medical conditions, injuries, or disabilities. When it comes to the prescription of exercise, they are the most qualified professionals in Australia.

How can an Accredited Exercise Physiologist help me?

There is strong evidence that physical activity is beneficial for improving health-related quality of life for people of all ages. An AEP uses an evidence-based approach to developing and implementing exercise programs to improve your health and wellbeing.

What type of Exercise Physiology services do you offer?

Our AEPs are able to offer a variety of services including:

  • Consultations
    • Initial and regular reviews
    • Developing independent programs
    • Health and fitness assessments
  • Supervised 1:1 Gym Sessions
  • Supervised 1:1 Hydrotherapy Sessions
  • Telehealth consultations and exercise sessions

How is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist different to a Physiotherapist?

Although there are similarities, an AEP and a physiotherapist are not the same thing and have differences in their area of expertise. Both are allied health professionals who have done a minimum of 4 years study at university.

Exercise physiologists use evidence-based movement and exercise interventions for chronic disease prevention and management, musculoskeletal injuries, and weight management.

Physiotherapists can diagnose a range of conditions and use various methods, including exercise, to treat musculoskeletal problems, alleviate pain, restore function and manage chronic conditions.
